SENSORY DEVELOPMENT IN NATURE FOR
SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN TOOLBOX
The Toolbox is an innovative, open-access resource that brings together nature-based education and occupational therapy to support the sensory development of children with special needs. Developed collaboratively by experts from four countries, it offers practical outdoor activities, low-cost sensory ideas, and guidance for creating Sensory Play Areas using natural materials. Designed to be simple, accessible and sustainable, the Toolbox is available in four languages and supports teachers, OTs, parents and schools in integrating nature into special education. It fills a major gap in existing resources by providing a practical, inclusive and eco-friendly model that can be used across Europe.
